Unity Basics Class starts October 23rd!!

Unity Basics

There will be 4 classes in this series. October 23, 30, November 6 & 20.

If you are thinking about becoming a member, these classes are required.  Whether you wish to become a member or not, this class will help you learn more about the teachings of Unity.  Class will be held from 12:30 to 1:30pm. (Please bring a snack or lunch if you want.)  Childcare will be provided.  The book, The Simple Truth is available in the bookstore.

Fall Faith Series – “Living in Spirit” the Wisdom of the Tao.” – September 14 – October 31 – This new series, held in private homes, is based on Dr. Wayne Dyer’s book “Change Your Thoughts, Change Your Life: Living the Wisdom of the Tao.”  Small groups, with a moderator, will explore the amazing verses of the Tao te Ching with essays of Dr. Dyer.  Classes will be offered on a variety of dates and times.  Sign-up sheets for Hosts and/or Participants are now in the sanctuary, or call the office at 912 355 4704 to register.  Study groups will meet in individual homes located in different parts of the city and county for your convenience.  Groups will choose their own dates and meeting times.      This special series will give you a new connection with a group of like-minded people, discovering your infinite intelligence within your spiritual community.

A.W.E. Service – Friday, September 30   7:00pm – Are you ready for a kinesthetic inter-spiritual experience?  If so, don’t miss this very special  service that includes drumming, chanting, meditation, poetry, prayer, music and dance! We will be celebrating the Autumn season.

Special Musical Guests:

  • Bill Smith and Ellen Gross – Sunday, September 18 – Bill and Ellen will bring their jazz and classic stylizing to Unity for both Sunday Services.  Don’t miss this much sought after musical team who will be performing for the first time at Unity!

World Day of Prayer – Thursday, September 8th – Prayer Vigil during the day… and join us in the evening for a special Taize Service with Prayer, Music, and Meditation.

Community Gathering – Sunday, September 11th – 12:15pm – Everyone is welcome and invited to attend this congregational gathering.  Please join us to learn more about future plans for Unity and to voice  any questions, comments,  and concerns you may have.  Join us immediately following the 11:00am service for this great opportunity to discuss and share ideas.

Rev. Terrance Padgett – Guest Speaker   September 25 – Rev. Padgett, Unity’s new South East Region Ministry Consultant, will be speaking at both Sunday Services, and conduct Board Training while he is in Savannah.

SE Regional Conference – September 13 – 17 – Kanuga Retreat Hendersonville, NC.  The Creative Arts Team is honored to be performing at the opening ceremony!  It’s not too late to go, if you stay off site.

I wanted to post all the cool things that Unity has been doing this last month and invite you to our “Events” page to see what is happening this month!!

Heart Centered Metaphysics Class – Part 4  – Thursdays   6 to 8pm  August 4 – September 1st – “Proving the Truth We Know”. It is not required that you have taken the  first three parts to take this class taught by Evelyn Wilson, LUT.   The class is offered for credit and will include   “The Kingdom of Heaven-The Fourth Dimension”, “The Creative Process”, Metaphysical Basis for Wholeness and Health”, and “Creating a Metaphysical Demonstration Plan.”

Unity Dinner Theater -  Friday Evening , August 5th – Enjoy a delicious sit-down meal and cabaret style entertainment by the Creative Arts Team!  Join us for this fun event that benefits the Music Team’s trip and performance at Kanuga.

Church Luncheon- 12:00noon – Join in a delicious fellowship meal  on Birthday Sunday prepared by Bryan Graves; a gift from Jim Beshires who will celebrate his birthday too.

Workshop with Cleveland Beach – Sunday, August 14, 1:00pm – Science explores the benefits of meditation. Workshop: Meditation, What’s the Use?  Science explores the benefits of meditation in this workshop.  “Living a More Effective Life with the Four Noble Truths of Buddhism” A presentation by Cleveland Beach at both Sunday Services on August 14th.

Cool off with the Prayer Team at  a  “Watermelon Cut” – Sunday, August 21st  12:00noon – All the watermelon you can eat, and Ice Cream too!  $2.00 donation per person.

Multicultural Day & Bring A Friend to Church Sunday – August 28 – Join us as we celebrate cultures  around the world with special music & guests.  You are invited to wear something that represents your heritage and bring a dish to share.  It’s also a great Sunday to bring a friend to church with you!

Youth & Family – Pool Party & Fall Kick Off – August 28th -  4:00pm – 6:00pm
The Royal’s house in Pooler – Uniteens, Y.O.U.ers, friends and families are invited to a BBQ cookout to meet the new leadership team and to learn about the exciting activities.
